Ah, that changes the diagnosis somewhat.
If the lock screen is completely normal, including the PIN screen, but as soon as you swipe up to enter the home/apps screen the horizontal black lines appear, then we should not immediately assume the AMOLED panel is physically damaged.
It could be related to the way the display is being driven at a particular brightness, refresh rate, or software/GPU state.
Try these tests in this order
1. Open the Samsung diagnostic menu
Dial:
*#0*#
Then select RED, GREEN, BLUE, and BLACK.
If the lines appear on these solid-color test screens → likely display hardware/panel.
If the test screens are perfectly clean → hardware panel damage is less certain, and we should investigate software/display settings.
2. Change brightness
When the lines appear after swiping up, move the brightness slider from minimum → maximum.
Watch whether the lines:
disappear,
become lighter/darker,
or remain exactly the same.
If they change significantly with brightness, that’s useful evidence of an AMOLED/display-drive issue.
3. Try Safe Mode
Restart the phone in Safe Mode, then swipe up.
If the lines disappear in Safe Mode, a third-party app or software issue may be responsible.
If they remain in Safe Mode, hardware becomes much more likely.
4. Most important test
Restart the phone and look at the Samsung logo during startup.
If there are no lines on the Samsung logo, but they appear only after Android loads, that points more toward software/display-driver/settings.
If the lines are already present on the Samsung logo, it’s much more likely to be the display hardware.
Based on what you’ve told me so far
Lock screen/PIN = clean
Swipe up/home screen = horizontal black lines
Screenshot = clean
So I would not replace the display yet. First do the *#0*# color tests and the Samsung-logo test.
If you can, take a photo of the screen with the lines visible immediately after swiping up, and another photo of the *#0*# → RED test. Send both here—I can compare the pattern and tell you which side (panel vs software/display driver) is more likely.
